Where to put security cameras: a site-by-site guide
Entrances, blind spots and the camera angles that actually help identify an intruder.

Most CCTV systems fail not because the cameras are poor, but because they point at the wrong things. A camera that shows the top of a head or a car park in silhouette will not help anyone after an incident.
Start with every way in
Cover every door, gate, loading bay and ground-floor window first. Mount cameras at a height that captures faces, not just the tops of heads, and light the area properly at night.
Then cover the assets
- Stock rooms, tills and server rooms
- Vehicle and plant storage areas
- Fence lines with known weak points
- Reception and visitor sign-in
Finally, connect the cameras to a monitored control room. Recording tells you what happened. Live monitoring lets someone stop it.
